In Love in Amsterdam

This blog post is a little overdue…but I’m super excited to share it today 🙂

When I met my fiancé, we had no choice but travel the world in order to spend time together. Of course it sounds super peachy but it was brutally exhausting. I lived in Los Angeles, he lived in Luxembourg. And we had to squeeze in as much time as possible in order to maintain our relationship. The great part about it is that we didn’t even think twice about it. Sure, we had full-time jobs, family and other commitments back home, but we would squeeze in as much time as possible just to spend a few moments together.

We were lucky enough to have these opportunities and the means to do so. I couldn’t imagine not being able to just find a flight for 4 days (1 day traveling, 2 days somewhere and then 1 day traveling again) to have a few moments with the person I love more than anything. Mario had surprised me last April when he came to Los Angeles for exactly ONE full day with me- all the way from Luxembourg. He landed, we had dinner, slept, woke up early, drove to Santa Barbara, went to a work event for that day doing loads of wine tasting, slept, woke up, drove to Los Angeles and then to the airport. I have never in my life understood when someone meant “if someone wants to be with you, they will find a way”.

Mario has made me feel like the most special woman in the world. I have never met a man who has truly gone out of his way to spend time with me, make me smile, and just be there for me. It felt like I was always trying to make more effort, or all of it, with past relationships. It was such a unique feeling knowing that what I was giving was actually being reciprocated. I didn’t expect it, but I appreciated it immensely.

I remember another time we had just a few short days to be together, this was in Amsterdam. I think our trip to Amsterdam was when I truly realized this really is something special and we really are perfect for each other. Everything with Mario is just so…easy. Effortless. Don’t get me wrong, we have had some major bumps along the way (I’ll get into a more personal story blog post soon) but we always managed to come through unscathed and even more connected.

Every moment with Mario is special, to this day. Now that we have been living together for a handful of months, getting into a routine, our passion and excitement for each other hasn’t changed. He still makes me feel like I’m the most important person in the world. He surprises me with me cute dates every week (when we or he isn’t traveling), he still makes me my morning coffee if he’s home when I wake up, he still tells me everyday something he loves about me, and so much more. It’s all the little things he does that continue to surprise me and make me fall more and more in love with him everyday.

I can’t wait to incorporate him more in the blog in the future as well as share more about how we met, our journey on how we got to where we are, and what we have planned for our future.

In the meantime, here are some photos from our last trip to Amsterdam, where he won my heart for the millionth and one time.
